Founded by Allan Hopper in 2018.
Allan has over 40 years airline and travel industry experience. After spending 8 years working with Aer Lingus in Dublin Airport, Allan moved to Sydney in February 1989 and found work as a travel consultant within a few weeks of arriving.
His industry experience includes – travel consultant, travel agency manger and ticketing consultant. He opened his first travel business in 1994 – hopperound is the fourth iteration of his business, and the last. He resisted using his own name for many years but is now very excited and enthusiastic about the hopperound brand.
Allan’s hopperound brand is about taking care of people and paying attention to detail. His clients have followed him through the years and still book with his agency today. Taking care of people is of paramount importance and Allan makes sure that anyone working with hopperound, or as an independent agent under his brand, is held to the same high standards.
There is a lot of misinformation out there and it seems everyone nowadays is a travel agent. Being trained the old way makes a big difference – when you call an airline or a large OTA (Online Travel Agency), you get connected with an operator in a Call Centre. Travel Agents trained the old way are now the experts in the industry.
There is a limit to what you can do or book online. Now, more than ever, without a travel agent you are on your own. Most people would be very surprised by what a travel agent can do for you and the difference it will make to your trip. Booking via a travel agency is way less stressful, way more value for money and has lots of hidden benefits.
After all this time in the industry, Allan has lots of stories to tell and examples to give to prove that cheap is expensive.
